Masters of Metal

Tonight, the Lied Center at the University of Kansas (1600 Stewart Drive in Lawrence) presents The Aluminum Show, a production that involves more than the shiny stuff you place over leftovers. “You say aluminum and you think foil immediately,” says Tim Van Leer, the Lied Center’s executive director. “Well, everything [in the show] is not made out of aluminum foil, but it’s made out of shiny silver things.” Those things include metal sheets, tubes and old factory pipes, all of which become the props, scenery and interactive parts of a show set to a soundtrack of fast-paced electronic music. The performance incorporates dancers, metal puppets, giant foil balloons, and stuff shot from cannons. It starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $24-$28 ($12 for students and children); call 785-864-2787 or see lied.ku.edu.
