Massive Kansas City Music Festival Announced

Everywhere in Kansas City, there are bands who rarely get a chance to play outside of weeknight shows at their local bar and grill. This Labor Day weekend, 120 — that’s ONE HUNDRED ‘N TWENTY — bands from in and around the Kansas City area will play as part of the Kansas City Music Fest. The show runs Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6 at the Beaumont Club, and advance passes are $10 for all three days.

The Fest is put on by Gorilla Productions, which might explain why you’ve never heard of 99% of these bands. They’ve been hit with accusations of pay-to-play (and coming from a long-established band like Girl Trouble, that’s saying something). If you want some eye-raising reading, do a Google search for “Gorilla Productions Scam” and read what pops up. There are lots of unhappy acts out there who are none too thrilled with how some of Gorilla’s “battle of the bands” have turned out.
