Martinous Woods, Killa City homicide 42: Man shot to death in gun battle

Martinous Woods

has been identified as the man fatally shot Sunday evening after a rolling gun battle that ended in the 700 block of Monroe.

Woods, 29, was from from Kansas City, Missouri. He died at a local hospital after police discovered him wounded near 7th and Monroe Sunday around 7:18 p.m.

Witnesses told police that the gun battle began at 6th and Monroe and

ended at 7th and Monroe when Woods stopped his vehicle and tried to run

but collapsed. Two suspects, described as black males, fled east on 7th

Street in a vehicle (no description was available due to conflicting

witness statements).

Woods has an old MySpace page (not updated since July 2007) in which he asks for prison pen pals.

Kansas City, Missouri, has now recorded 24 homicides in 2010.
