Marcus Morris makes the cover of Sports Illustrated … regionally

Kansas Jayhawk Marcus Morris added another accolade this week: the cover of Sports Illustrated. The mag previewing the 2011 NCAA Tournament features Morris and will be distributed regionally.

SB Nation Kansas City reports that Morris, the Big 12 Player of the

Year, joins fellow regional cover boys Kemba Walker of UConn and Nolan

Smith of Duke.

For the sake of the No. 1 seeded Jayhawks, let’s hope there’s no such thing as the SI curse, although Jacob Pullen and Kansas State might argue otherwise. (Pullen was featured on the preseason cover of the magazine, and the ‘Cats were ranked No. 3. They never lived up to those expectations.) A first-round exit at the hands of Boston University would back that up. But it’s not something anyone outside of the biggest BU homer is expecting.
