Marching inside

The members of the University of Kansas Marching Jayhawks have been playing indoors for decades as part of the Bar Band, wherein marching band members get together and play fight songs in bars for drinks. This, however, is the first time the entire band has ever played an official indoor concert, so its billing as the first-ever indoor concert by the University of Kansas Marching Jayhawks is legitimate. In addition to stalwarts of football pregame performances such as “Sunflower Song” and “I’m a Jayhawk,” the Jayhawks’ performance will include Saturday morning cartoon favorites; the music of Blood, Sweat and Tears; and a Latin jazz tribute. Former KU basketball announcer Hank Booth serves as announcer when the David Clemmer-directed Jayhawks take the stage at the Lied Center (1600 Stewart Drive in Lawrence, 785-864-2787).
