Manor Fest 6 is ready to rock double weekends across KC starting May 23
Manor Records was initially created by Shaun Crowley in Shawnee while running D.I.Y venue The Shawnee Manor. The 501(c)(3) non-profit record label had its official launch in 2017, after hosting numerous shows and festivals within the underground music hall, featuring artists from Glass Animals to Shy Boys. Their festivals began reaching up to 10 bands a night, which led them to moving out of The Shawnee Manor and into a more official location for the label.
The local festival moved to Kansas City during its third year—offering over thirty acts across three nights throughout Kansas City, with years four and five having a weekend each in Lawrence and Kansas City. This summer marks the sixth year of Manor Fest and will include over six acts spanning over two weekends at different venues throughout Kansas City.
“The Manor Records team is so excited to bring another year of Manor Fest to Kansas City,” Crowley says. “It’s amazing to have the local music community come together for the 6th time to help fundraise for our non-profit mission, all while highlighting the amazing local talent in our city. The fest is a great way to find amazing bands of all types of genres that play here locally all the time for cheap and are usually in need of support!”
Weekend one begins on Thursday, May 23, and ends on Saturday, May 25, with performances throughout North Kansas City, Strawberry Hill, and the West Bottoms by artists including (but not limited to) The Swallowtails, Khrystal, and Wills Van Doorn. Venues include The Rino in North KC, Flagship Books in Strawberry Hill, and Blip Roasters in the West Bottoms.
Weekend two begins on Thursday, May 30, and ends on Saturday, June 1. Fans will have an opportunity to experience venues different than the previous week, such as Howdy and Farewell in East KC, Fox & Pearl on the westside, and an array of sites in the Crossroads. Similar to weekend one, weekend two offers a wide variety of artists such as Midwestern, Paris Williams and Flooding to name but a few.
