Man suspected of shooting and killing his mother-in-law, Pamela Groves; nine homicides in the last 10 days in KCMO

UPDATE (10;15 a.m.):Last night’s homicide victim has been identified as 52-year-old Pamela Groves of Kansas City, Missouri. Expect charges to be filed today.


Original Story (6:54 a.m.):
Around 4 p.m. yesterday, I wrote that Kansas City, Missouri’s homicide total for the last 10 days was eight. The day wasn’t over. We now have seen nine homicides in the last 10 days.

Kansas City’s 74th homicide occurred at a home in the 3500 block of St. John. Officers responded to the shooting of a 52-year-old white female. The unnamed woman was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the woman’s 27-year-old son-in-law is suspected in the slaying. He was taken into custody at the scene. More to come.
