Magician Victor Le’Yon answers The Pitch‘s questionnaire

Name
: Victor Le’Yon

Occupation: Magician

Hometown: São Paulo, Brazil

Current neighborhood: Waldo

What I do: As a close-up magician, I work with cards, coins and other small objects with use of advanced sleight of hand to create an entertainment experience much like a magic show.

What’s your addiction? Carrot cake

What’s your game? Poker

What’s your drink? Cotton Candy Shatto Milk

Where’s dinner? Cheesecake Factory

What’s on your KC postcard? The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

Finish this sentence: “Kansas City got it right when …” It built the Power & Light District. The modern architecture and inviting atmosphere are something to marvel at. Even more so, it draws the community together for fun and frolic! It’s one of my favorite parts of KC.

“Kansas City needs …” More fountains. Yes, I think the City of Fountains could use more fountains. The splashing and gushing water in the summertime is the staple of Kansas City. So why not more?

“I always laugh at …” Bad jokes.

“In five years, I’ll be …” Touring my show internationally, fingers crossed.

“I’ve been known to binge-watch …” Iron Chef.

“I can’t stop listening to …” “Cheek to Cheek” by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett.

“I just read …” Startup Weekend. It was an interesting book about a global event for entrepreneurs to gather on a weekend and network and create. A great read for any business professional looking to create a startup business.

The best advice I ever got: Do what you love and let the rest fall into place.

Worst advice: Get a “real” job.

My sidekick: My iPhone

My brush with fame: Meeting Britney Spears while performing out of state.

My recent triumph: Releasing my new show, “The Parlor Show.” This show takes an in-depth look at sleight of hand, daring stunts and turn-of-the-century conjuring. It includes my award-winning act and has been a three-year labor of love. Equally, while preparing for this show, I was honored to be nominated for the Kansas City Close-Up Magician of the Year for 2015, and I am excited to possibly win the title for a second time.
