Made in Israel

Question: What nation was founded 62 years ago on this day? Answer: Israel. To celebrate, the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City and Congregation Beth Shalom present a free event of gadgetry and culture. Techno-Israel takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Beth Shalom (9400 Wornall) and blends a showcase of technological wonders developed in Israel — for example, Modu, the world’s smallest cell phone, and a nano pill, a pill-sized camera that’s meant to be swallowed — with a sampling of Israeli culture. Use live Internet video chat to communicate with an Israeli, while munching on the kind of food she likes to eat; feel like you’re actually there with her by putting on 3-D glasses and looking at holographic pictures of her country.
