Mac Lethal’s Black Clover Records and Flying Monkey Brewery Part Ways

After three years of promoting the music of Black Clover artists such as Mac Lethal and (before he withdrew from rapping altogether) Joe Good alongside signature suds from the Flying Monkey brewery in Olathe, the two businesses are parting ways – or, at least, scaling things down.

Black Clover President, CEO and GM Jeremy Willis told me today via e-mail that their parting was a mutual agreement: “The brewery was going through some transitions around the time of the Xmas show [Black Clover Christmas, Dec. 19 at the Riot Room] and I felt we had to secure another partner. We are exploring options with a few other breweries that would be able to work with us in several of our better markets. … I don’t feel like the relationship is completely over, and there is no bad blood.”

The popular Monkey brew Mac’s Beer, which was originally named for Black Clover’s flagship artist, will continue to be produced, Willis says.

But unfortunately for lucky media hacks like me, those evenings of hanging out at Flying Monkey and drinking beer with Mac and crew are probably over.
