Looking For A Place to Stay?

We here at Wayward Blog are fond of traveling. In the past year, I’ve managed to make it to Chicago, New York, and Austin. However, when I travel, I tend to stay at what might be referred to as “economical” accommodations. My logic is that I’m going to be out doing stuff, and all I really need is a bed and a door that locks.

However, when I next make my way out of the area, I think I might have to upgrade.

Analog Apartment has an interview with Alex Calderwood, owner and co-founder of Ace Hotels. In addition to the various kudos lauded on the chain by such magazines as Time, the hotel chain (with locations in Portland, Seattle, New York, and Palm Springs) features a turntable and records as unlikely in-room amenities.

The interview makes me want to take another trip, and the fact that Ace has teamed up with Sonic Youth to create a culture guide, as well as a potential partnership with Other Music, leads me to believe this might be the first music geek hotel chain.

Certainly nicer than the Chelsea, that’s for sure.
