Looking Ahead to the 2015 NBA All-Star Game

The NBA Playoffs may have just begun but that doesn’t mean that you can’t look forward to next year, especially if your favorite team didn’t make it to the postseason. One thing to alway look forward to is the NBA All-Star Game and Slam Dunk Contest which will be held in New York City. When the NBA All-Star Game comes to Madison Square Garden in 2015 it be the fifth time the game has come to the worlds most famous arena and will be the first NBA All-Star Game held in New York City since 1998 when the East beat the West 135-114 and saw “His Airness,” Michael Jordan take home his third and final All-Star Game MVP Award.

In year past the NBA All-Star Game has been one of the hottest tickets of the year and has seen ticket prices rank near the most expensive of the year. Over the past four years the NBA All-Star Game tickets have averaged the pricey $1,648; and in that time going for as low as $1,104 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans this past season and as much as $2,620 in 2013 when it was held at the Toyota Center in Houston.

Ticket prices aren’t yet known but it can be assumed with some certainty that NBA All-Star Game tickets will increase from last year due to the fact that it will be in the country’s biggest market, New York City. While the All-Star Game will be held at Madison Square Garden not all of the events taking place that week will. For instance the Slam Dunk Contest and Skills Challenge which is held the Saturday Night before the game will take place at the Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets. The Slam Dunk contest was once bigger than the All-Star Game and had the best players in the NBA compete in it but those days appear to be over. Despite this the Slam Dunk contest and Skills Challenge are still able to garner a high average ticket price as it went for $993 in 2014 and $1,385 the year before that. If you plan on attending the NBA All-Star Game make sure to check out both All-Star Game and All-Star Saturday Night tickets when tickets go on sale as they will surely go up in price as we get closer to tipoff.
