Light rail’s latest foe: C.O.W.S.
By DAVID MARTIN
Mock opposition to light rail has emerged. A group called Citizens Opposed to Workable Solutions has released videos making ridiculous arguments against the city’s proposal.
In one video, a farmer named Billy Bob suggests the proposed sales tax should be used to buy farm animals. “Wouldn’t that be great, if everybody was to have their own cow?” he asks. In another clip, a sales clerk worries that thieves who steal Chanel No. 5 will make easy getaways on city-built trains.
The COWS campaign continues in the fine tradition of Save Our Owners, the limo-riding, champagne-sipping gang of faux socialites and barons who made sport of the campaign to renovate the stadiums in 2006.
