Liberty Memorial Activities

As of May 17, according to cnn.com, there were 7,206 reported U.S. and Coalition casualties of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Take time out this weekend to honor the fallen of all American wars when the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial (100 West 26th Street, 816-784-1918) presents a weekend of free public lectures, exhibitions and displays. The Honoring Our History Traveling
Museum, sponsored by Waddell and Reed, is an 18-wheeler that begins its 75-city journey today in front of Union Station (30 West Pershing Road, 816-462-2020). The mobile gallery features artifacts, videos and a walk-through trench and is open from 4 to 8:30 p.m. It can be viewed on Monday on the museum grounds.

For the Vintage Military Vehicle Display, representatives from the Military Vehicle Preservation Association’s Hell on Wheels Chapter are on hand to show, and answer questions about, riding machines from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. That’s
today and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the museum’s southeast lawn.
