The Kansas City Police Department, as it often does, released photos of suspects in an assault on a city bus driver earlier this week to solicit help from readers and viewers in identifying them.

It turns out that the mother of 20-year-old Lewis W. Perkins was paying attention to local media this week. She recognized her son as one of the suspected assailants of a Kansas City Area Transportation Authority bus driver.

According to police records, Perkins’ mother identified him and an unnamed juvenile suspect and had them turn themselves in to Kansas City police.
