Best Of Kansas City 2008, October 2
Thanks for naming me Best Morning News Anchor this year — what a surprise! I try and have fun and be myself on the desk. If not, I’d go crazy with all the murder and mayhem stories we read. Tell the writer that he or she sure made me blush!
You should have seen me at the Spin Pizza two days ago. I ran in, hoarded a bunch of Pitches, chatted with a woman who asked me why I was hoarding a bunch, and ran out. Copies are on the way to my mom, dad, brother’s wife’s uncle’s grandpa’s first-grade teacher. You get the deal.
Really, though, I’m going to add this to my list of accomplishments. Right next to “Former eBay Powerseller.”

A friend of mine sent me an e-mail this morning, informing me that The Pitch named my blog, downthebyline.com, the Best Sports Blog. I wanted to take the time to say thank you for this. Never thought my blog would get much recognition outside of Wizards-fan circles.

I picked up your Best of Kansas City 2008 issue and noted that you named me Best Songwriter. Thanks so much. This means more to me than I can tell you (honestly). But then I saw that my young friend Barclay Martin was named Best Sexy Musician. I contacted Barclay, and he has agreed (somewhat reluctantly, it seemed to me) to trade titles with me for the year — subject to your approval, of course. Any consideration you could give in this regard would be appreciated.
