Let’s Get Pist

Kansas City’s Irish Fest has seen scads upon scads of Gael and non-Gael eyes a-smilin’ at Crown Center (2450 Grand) for the past five years.
In honor of that anniversary, tonight only, organizers channel their inner Bob Geldof and offer a charitable $5 discount for tickets purchased online at kcirish fest.com. This year’s fete includes the usual fare, such as Irish-American eats, courtesy of O’Dowd’s Little Dublin and other local pubs; live music from KC faves the Elders and rug-cutters the O’Riada Dancers; activities for the wee kiddies; and, naturally, beer that flows like water.
The event grounds have been expanded this year to make way for the bigger and better Boulevard Brewing entertainment stage, and the fest goes even greener by providing recycling bins for all your plastics. Another way-sexier amenity is the Irish Fest’s Dance Dance Revolution game, where blokes get their Michael Flatley on in the quest to become Lord of the Jig. The festival continues through Sunday. Door admission costs $10 a day for adults or $5 for seniors; kids 12 and younger get in free. The party starts today at 5. Check kcirishfest.com for more information.
