Leave it in Park

Scenic Cliff Drive, on the bluffs above the Missouri River, is a beautiful stretch of road to vaguely admire through the windshield as you speed through George E. Kessler Park at high velocity. So just imagine how much more you’ll appreciate it now that it’s shut down by the Department of Parks and Recreation for Car-Free Weekends. Connecting Columbus Park, Pendleton Heights, Independence Plaza and other historic Kansas City neighborhoods, the road is a part of a system of parks and boulevards that guided Kansas City’s urban planning for years. Until October 27, Cliff Drive will be accessible only to pedestrians and bicyclists weekly from Friday afternoon until Monday morning.— Chris Packham
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: May 18. Continues through Oct. 27, 2007
