LAUGH YOURSELF STUPID

Comedian Brian Regan isn’t an idiot. He just plays one onstage. Though he’s actually among the sharper wits specializing in observational comedy, Regan’s hook is a trait we’ll call imbecilia — a knack for dropping about 80 IQ points right before your eyes as he portrays the all-too-common man’s inability to wrap his mind around the most basic daily occurrences. Such foolishness has served Regan well in his two decades on the club circuit, two dozen Letterman appearances, and two hour-long specials including 2008’s The Epitome of Hyperbole. Because dumbing down has Regan moving up into bigger houses these days, he brings his mind-boggling new material to the Music Hall (301 West 13th Street) tonight at 7:30. All seats for the all-ages show cost $41.50. To order tickets, see ticketmaster.com or call the box office at 816-513-5000.
