Laugh at Lawrence
If you’ve ever had the urge to lambaste Lawrence, the annual Victor Continental Show is your primo flogger. Its all-Larryville cast rips Jayhawkers a new arsehole with the precision of a Brandon Rush jumpshot. It’s all in good fun, but it can turn vicious when gigolo master of ceremonies Victor (Jerry Mitchell) has a few too many Gibsons and starts hitting on the front row. The rest of the cast spans members of the E.M.U. Theatre crew and KU Theatre Department alums. Skits — some of which include vulgar puppets — take shape in blitzkrieg writing sessions leading up to the main event, which begins at 10 tonight at Liberty Hall (644 Massachusetts in Lawrence, 785-749-1912). Tickets start at $10.50. There will be no discount for Saturday’s 10 p.m. show, despite the fact that all cast members will still be hung over.
