Latasha Prewitt, Killa City Homicide No. 1: Jasmine Depriest charged with second-degree murder

Latasha Prewitt, 25, was the metro’s first homicide victim in 2010. It was a little over an hour into the  new year: At 1:15 a.m. on January 1, Kansas City, Missouri, police responded to a call about a shooting at Joshua’s nightclub, 5701 Longview Road. They found Prewitt in the parking lot; she was taken to a hospital where she died a short time later.

Witnesses told police that two females had been escorted out of the club after being involved in a fight; the disturbance continued in the parking lot, where Prewitt was shot and security officers at the scene made an arrest.

On Friday, Keasha Ingram, 24, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Jasmine Depriest, 19, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
