Last Lap

Amateur cyclists, who labor up and down our relentlessly undulating city streets, can rest assured that even the sport’s top professionals are being warned that the final stage of the Tour of Missouri will be more than a breezy victory lap. To get to the finish line of the 600-mile marathon, the cyclists will have to grind 72 miles around tight corners and up steep hills on a 10-mile circuit through downtown Kansas City. To watch the world’s best battle it out, join the party at Washington Square Park (Pershing Road and Grand), where the 2009 Health & Wellness Expo runs from noon until 6 p.m. For more information, see tourofmissouri.com.
