KU Symphony to present its third annual Halloween concert this Friday

The University of Kansas’ Symphony Orchestra puts on its third annual Halloween concert this Friday, October 28. For those who’ve not had the opportunity to see this one-of-a-kind event, it’s the sort of thing that defines the word “spectacle.” For last year’s performance, the Symphony’s conductor, Professor David Neely, conducted Star Wars‘ “Imperial March” as Darth Vader, using a lightsaber as a baton. During Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” a piano rose from the orchestra pit, accompanied by plumes of white smoke, as McNeely continued conducting with a ram’s skull staff. Like we said — not to miss.
