Krista Meeks, Riverside teen, tagged with manslaughter for selling LSD analogue that killed 15 year old

Platte County prosecutors charged 17-year-old Krista Meeks, who is suspected of selling a synthetic knockoff of acid, with manslaughter for providing the drug to another teenager who died after taking it.
Meeks was arrested last October and charged with a felony count of selling imitation drugs, but on Wednesday she faced much steeper legal problems now that Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd has pinned the death of a 15-year-old on the Riverside teen.
Court documents say Meeks got in contact with two teenagers, ages 15 and 14, last October through a mutual contact. When the three met, Meeks allegedly pointed out that her newest customers seemed rather young, asking if they were freshmen.
Meeks allegedly told investigators that she knew the product she was peddling was not acid, but rather something that behaves like acid. A police officer’s account of an interview she had with Meeks indicated that Meeks admitted to being a heavy drug user herself, but not heavy enough to try what she was selling because she understood that the side effects were risky.
The 15-year-old took the drug on October 4 and died afterward. His autopsy showed that he died from intoxication from a synthetic compound.
Meeks told investigators that she was getting the drug from a residence in Kansas City, Kansas. Authorities got a search warrant and checked out the address Meeks provided and came away with 1,800 doses of the imitation LSD.
Meeks is in custody in Platte County with a $25,000 cash bond.
