Knight Cap
TUE 3/2
Dennis Rodman didn’t show up for his two scheduled clashes with the Kansas City Knights, leaving Corbin Bernsen, researching a role in an American Basketball Association-based film, as the team’s biggest celebrity visitor. But with the team only two games out of first place, who cares if there are stars in the stands or on the opposing bench? Whereas both the Royals and the Chiefs started 9-0 only to falter down the stretch, the Knights are peaking when it counts, winning their last five games to move to 21-9 with four games remaining. In its final regular season home match, the Knights take on Tijuana.
There won’t be any Surreal Life or Celebrity Mole cast members making appearances, but this will be a fine time to salute the only local professional sports franchise whose winning season might actually end in a title game. Tuesday’s game is at Hale Arena, 1800 Genessee; call 913-492-2055 for more information.— Andrew Miller
Traffic Jam
FRI 2/27
It’s Friday night, and you just got paid. Where do you go after a week of work? You get on your bike and freeze your ass off, of course. Critical Mass, the worldwide movement for bikes as personal transportation, holds a ride the last Friday of each month. Riders start gathering at 5 p.m. near the corner of Southwest Trafficway and Mill Street and depart at 5:30 p.m. The rides, which have no map or destination in mind, aim to reshape the bike from a flimsy frame of metal into a swarming mass capable of blocking intersections, running red lights and scaring the hell out of the elderly. Riding a bike in winter might seem as perverse as flying a kite at night, but you can feel good about the cause, even as you wreck happy hour for hundreds of others.— Christopher Sebela

RV fantasies are hard to shake, and not just for humans — as we discovered, reading RV community forums online. Apparently, bugs love both the inside and outside of recreational vehicles. It’s hard to blame them; free food, free travel — we wouldn’t complain, either. Attending this weekend’s RV Show at Bartle Hall (301 West 13th Street) might be a good way for RV enthusiasts to find out about the best remedies for freeloading insects. It’s also the ideal opportunity to find out more about new models, exciting destinations and other things people living in stationary homes can only dream about.
