Kilroy to Celebrate Self Tomorrow

I’ve been out sick most of the week with no energy for blogging. But I came in today, and as I coughed and sniffled while deleting e-mails and ignoring phone calls, I wasn’t sure I’d find the strength to make it through the day. Then, I stumbled upon the following missive (illustrations added).

September 19 marks the date of the first show that I reviewed and wrote about for Banzai Magazine. It was on this date, also a Friday, in 1986 that Banshee, Mortal Reign and a band called Forced Entry played at the Uptown Theatre in Kansas City, MO. Though I had been planning and talking about Banzai in the weeks before this show. And even though I didn’t release the first edition of Banzai until October 1, 1986. I consider September 19, 1986 to be the day that Banzai was birthed onto the scene. I will observe and celebrate this occasion in a number of ways:
