Killa City: These guys allegedly killed Steven Bertling

Jackson County prosecutors charged four men in connection with the death of Steven Bertling, the Independence man killed while playing basketball in a church parking lot with friends.

Prosecutors charged 20-year-old Joseph P. Delgado and 21-year-old Justin M. Trotter with second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

They also charged 18-year-olds Michael W. Russi and Jacob W. Shaffer with first-degree attempted assault.

Court records say Delgado, Trotter, Russi and Bertling drove by Bertling and his friends and flipped them off and yelled “fuck you” at them. Then they attacked. Delgado allegedly punched Bertling, knocking him out. Shaffer allegedly stole Bertling’s shoe (and later bragged about it).

Trotter lets us know just how gangster he is on his MySpace page, which is titled, “Smokin blunts of that keyshia cole all day.”

In his “about me” section, he writes:

Im the most savage motha fucker youll ever meet.if you dont think so come to my block and talk some shit cause i got da choppa and you know me boys do too. but for real i like to meet new girls and kick it with my niggas. SMOKED OUT,BARRED OUT GETTIN FUCKED UP.

He likes Mac Dre, UFC, Boondocks Saints, Scarface, weed and money. Mixed with family photos are photos of him throwing up gang signs, him with a giant gash on his head (“jumped, i got em good”), marijuana plants (“my lil bitch, got big ass buds on it now I grow da fire”) and guns (“I sleep good at night”).
