Killa City: KCMO homicides No. 35 and 36, Andrew Eli and Justin Budreau

Jackson County prosecutors charged Michael G. Gunn, Larry Marshall and Eria L. Doss with second-degree murder in the killings of Justin K. Budreau and Andrew J. Eli.
Prosecutors also charged Gunn, Marshall and Doss with armed criminal action and first-degree robbery.
Court records say officers found the door to Eli’s apartment building wide open
when they arrived at the scene around 1:55 p.m. They found Eli, 23, and
Budreau, 24, lying face down on the living room floor with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads. Both were struggling to breathe. Eli died at
the scene, and Budreau died at a local hospital.
A witness told homicide detectives that he saw three black men walk up
to the apartment and heard gunshots shortly after. The witness said he
recognized Marshall and saw him use his T-shirt to wipe off the door
handle and leave before the gunfire. The witness saw the other two
black men run out of the apartment after hearing gunfire and one of the
men was carrying an electronic device.
Detectives found the apartment “partially ransacked” and a laptop, the victims’ wallets and cell phones were missing.
Police arrested Marshall, Doss and Gunn Monday.
Court records say Doss, 19, and Gunn, 17, asked Marshall, 20, where they could “buy some good weed.” Marshall told them the “white boys” on the block had good
weed. Marshall told detectives that he took the men to the house but no
one answered the door. The door was unlocked so the men went in. Marshall told detectives that he went up the steps but stopped. Doss
and Gunn went into the apartment. Marshall’s cousin, Carolyn Hunt,
picked him — and minutes later, Doss and Gunn — and they left the
scene.
Doss told detectives that he,
Marshall and Gunn went to rob Eli’s apartment. Doss said Eli and Budreau were sleeping when he and Gunn went into the apartment. Gunn yelled at Eli and Budreau and
made them lay face down on the floor. Doss said he searched the apartment and heard two shots as he walked out of a bedroom. Doss and Gunn ran from the apartment. Gunn handed Doss a laptop computer and then Gunn put
his gun into his pants, Doss said.
Gunn told detectives that Doss shot
Eli and Budreau and changed his story several times but
never admitted shooting Eli and Budreau.
