James Ragsdale died from injuries sustained in a weekend shooting, KSHB Channel 41 reported Tuesday.

KSHB

says Ragsdale — the grandson of Kansas City School board member, Helen

Ragsdale — was removed from life support on Sunday and his organs were

donated.

The Kansas City Star reported that Ragsdale was shot in his driveway in the 4300 block of Flora Avenue early Saturday morning.

The Star gives this account: Ragsdale and two other men were sitting in a BMW in a driveway when two vehicles pulled into the driveway behind the BMW around 3 a.m. A gunman fired shots into the BMW, critically injuring Ragsdale and wounding the other men in the car. The driver of the BMW (who may have been the “intended target” in possible gang retaliation) was shot in the legs.

KSHB uses the photo on the right, which is also Ragsdale’s profile picture on his MySpace page.

Update (11:48 a.m., Wednesday, July 22): Just got the police report. There are a few more details. When police arrived, Ragsdale was “unresponsive.”

“This all started at Club Zen,” another victim told police but refused to “say anything else about how it started.”

Another witness “was uncooperative and would not give a statement.”

Meanwhile, Ragsdale was bleeding from the head.
