Killa City: KCMO homicide No. 63, Deanna Lieber fatally killed by stray bullet on Highway 71
Deanna Lieber was fatally shot on her way home to Lawrence Friday night.
Lieber, 45, was driving with her 13-year-old daughter and mother-in-law in a gold Dodge Durango on 71 Highway when she was apparently struck by random gunfire, police say.
Lieber, her daughter and mother-in-law were driving home from a show at the Starlight Theater.
Officers received a call of shots fired in the area of 59th and 71 Highway around 11:24 p.m. On the way to the scene, a second call reported a shooting in the same vicinity.
Lieber was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lieber is listed as general counsel for the Kansas State Board of Education and Kansas State Department of Education. She was also a mother of two, according to the Lawrence Journal-World.
