Killa City: KCK police ID victims of quadruple homicide

Kansas City, Kansas, police released the names of the victims in Monday’s quadruple homicide in the 5200 block of Munice Drive. They are:

  • 66-year-old James A. Warren
  • 21-year-old Amanda J. Remmers
  • 41-year-old Peggy Castleberry
  • 3-year-old Juanita D. Castleberry-Bess

Police say all four died from gunshot wounds. Their deaths bring the total number of homicides in KCK to 18.

Police arrested a man Tuesday following a chase. No more information has been released by police about that person.

Updated (1:48 p.m. Wednesday, June 24): Both Remmers and Castleberry had prior arrests in Wyandotte County. Remmers was in and out of the Wyandotte County jail for petty theft, resisting arrest, obstruction and a city charge between 2006 and 2009. Castleberry was arrested on city charges in 2004.

Updated (3:39 p.m. Wednesday, June 24): KCTV-5 reports that 37-year-old Adrian Burks, the man arrested following the police chase on Tuesday, has been charged with aggravated battery in a separate case.

A KCK police spokesman refused to call Burks a “person of interest” in the quadruple homicide Wednesday afternoon, but TV and news reports linked Burks’ arrest with the crime.

No charges have been filed in the quadruple homicide.
