Kid-Tested

High school has always been filled with drama. Now that angst comes to the stage with the Coterie Theatre’s Young Playwrights’ Festival. The nationally ranked, family-friendly venue in Crown Center (2450 Grand) has selected the work of seven scribes from its Young Playwrights’ Roundtable — a yearlong workshop in which teens provide feedback on one another’s work — for a
series of staged readings, plays and monologues featuring professional actors and directors. The program starts at 7 p.m. and ranges from the provocative to the absurd: The Clique Factor asks what life would be like without cliques, while Santa gets involved with a dysfunctional family in December 25th. There’s also a classic fairy tale retold with Littler Red. Admission is free, but there is a suggested $5 donation. Make reservations by calling 816-474-6552.
