Kevin Bacon’s the Bacon Brothers, Billy Bob Thornton’s the Boxmasters are coming to KC in April

It’s a little-celebrated fact that Kevin Bacon’s excellent country band, the Bacon Brothers – a duo with his brother, Michael Bacon – exists. Same goes for Academy Award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton’s country three-piece, the Boxmasters.

In fact, if these actors wanted, they could quit their day jobs: The Bacon Brothers’ last album, 2014’s 36¢, was a delightful return to form for the duo (officially a band since 1995, though the brothers have been playing together all their lives). The Boxmasters’ newest album, Somewhere Down the Road, is out today, and its 22 songs will definitely inspire your inner cowboy or cowgirl.

Both bands will play Kansas City later this month at Prohibition Hall. The Bacon Brothers perform Friday, April 24, with Four Fried Chickens and a Coke as the opener. The Boxmasters perform Saturday, April 25, with opening sets from the Hillbenders, Matt Snook and Drew Six.
