Keanu Reeves understands the Kansas City Chiefs’ pain

After the latest Chiefs’ loss (31-13 at the Chargers last night), I have no words. The Chiefs never led (they were only tied with San Diego for a little over four minutes to start the game), and the Chargers brought back two turnovers for touchdowns in a two-minute span. The players are starting to look as disconnected as the fans. Instead of trying to make sense of what happened, I’ll turn this space over to Shane Falco of the Washington Sentinels (Keanu Reeves in The Replacements) talking about his greatest fear on the field. The relevant portions of the locker room scene begin at 1:21 of the video. Falco’s words are also below:

Quicksand…you’re playing and you think everything is going fine. But then one thing goes wrong. And then another. And another. And you try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. ‘Til you can’t move. Can’t breathe. Because you’re in over your head…like quicksand.

And right now, nobody has the rope to pull this team out.
