KCPD Chief reports July’s red light camera violations

On his blog on Friday, KCPD Chief Jim Corwin published the total number of tickets handed out for red light runners caught on camera in July.
His results:
Total violations reviewed by officers: 8,145
Total citations issued: 5,361
Percent of violations submitted that were approved for citations: 65.8%
Total hours of officer time devoted to reviewing violations: 230.3 hours
Corwin reports that in 868 instances, the results were “too close to call” so officers didn’t issue a ticket. Another factor that results in no ticket is an unreadable license plate. Wonder if anyone’s been trying this stuff?
