KC Tribe in women’s football league championship

On Saturday night, the tough gals of the Kansas City Tribe take on the Chicago Force in a female-only game of tackle football.
At stake is the Western Conference Championship of the Independent Women’s Football League. Both the Tribe and the Force took down undefeated teams last week to earn a berth in the conference championship. The Tribe is 1-1 against the Force this year. If they win on Saturday, they head to Austin for a July 25 game to determine the league’s champions.
“We may be small in numbers,” says Mindy White, part-owner, general manager, tight end, and outside linebacker for the Tribe, “but the numbers we do have are extraordinary talents. As long as the 11 we have out there do their jobs, I don’t think Chicago can match up against us.”
The action starts at 6 p.m. at Center High School. Tickets are $10 for adults; free for kids. Click here for former Pitch writer Jen Chen’s classic story on the team.
