KC SuperStar singing competition is back, hosted this year by SNL’s Chloe Fineman
Chloe Fineman of Saturday Night Live fame is hosting the KC SuperStar. Auditions are open for the 2024 season. This is a local singing competition open to any and all high school students. Students are competing for the prize of a $10,000 scholarship.
Those looking to compete should register on their website. Auditions are being held Sunday, March 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The style of the competition is based on the “American Idol” competition. No accompaniment will be given, so be prepared to sing a cappella. Outside the winner’s prize scholarship, the top 10 finalists will also be winning scholarships of their own.
Second place gets $5,000, third gets $2,500, fourth gets $1,000 and every other finalist gets $500. So it’s worth trying out, even if you don’t think you’ll get the first prize. No experience is needed prior to auditions, either.
This is all done to support The J’s, or the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City’s, Annual Fundraiser. It goes to local services like the Child Development Center, J Camp, health and fitness, and the arts as well as The Reat Griffin Underwood Rising Stars Fund.
For those that make it past auditions, the dates for semifinals and finals have been released as well. Semifinals are on June 6, and Finals are Aug. 25.
