KC Sipps: Two notable openings north of the river, and Women’s Month foodie celebrations
This week's Kansas City restaurant news.
Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.
That’s where I come in.
I’ve curated this weekly list of events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!
Something New
News Bites: To honor International Women’s Month, some area eateries are raising funds or hosting special events. Goat and Rabbit will offer a limited-time cocktail menu that benefits Metropolitan Organization Countering Sexual Assault (MOSCA), starting March 2. Good Karma Coffee welcomes women-led businesses to pop up in the Midtown cafe each weekend, starting with foodie features Puddi and The Baker’s Table this weekend. Later this month, J. Rieger & Co will host a Hey Gurl! Hey! event on March 12 and a Women’s History Month vendor market on March 27.
Opening
Zaki Mediterranean: A new Mediterranean spot has opened in the Iron District. Chef Frank, of Kari’s on 39th, brings his family recipes from Jordan to the vibrant outdoor dining hub in North Kansas City. Hummus, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and more make up the fresh menu. I suggest checking out the lovely plating of the Zaki combo. It is open with limited afternoon and evening hours Wednesdays through Sundays.
34 South Main Cocktail Lounge: Liberty has a new spot for craft cocktails. 34 South Main Cocktail Lounge is now open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. The new bar has a lush contemporary living room aesthetic and operates by walk-ins only.
February 27
Three Bees Pottery & Coffee Shop: Latinos United Now and Always (LUNA) is setting up at Three Bees on Southwest Boulevard from 2 – 5 p.m. to raise money for Asylum Clinic KC. ACKC promotes justice through the delivery of accessible legal services and support that empower underserved immigrants and refugees in our area. To beneift ACKC, Three Bees will donate a portion of the afternoon’s proceeds, and LUNA will be collecting monetary donations.
March 1
Blue Bird Bistro: 25 years is an incredible accomplishment for a restaurant. Congratulations, Blue Bird Bistro. On March 1, from 4 – 7 p.m., they’re hosting an open house to introduce the farmers and makers who have had an impact on your plate over the past two decades. Throughout March, check back in with the Westside restaurant for throwback dishes to see if your old favorite is making a comeback.
Plan Ahead
Taco Naco: The second Taco En Boca event from Chef Fernanda Reyes will be held on March 2 at Taco Naco in Westport. This six-course dinner features dishes from Reyes and Tyler Harp of Harp Barbeque, paired with Holladay Distillery bourbon cocktails. Tickets are $178.06 all-in.
Food Biz Con: Kansas City’s 5th annual 2026 Food Business Conference (Food Biz Con) returns with free workshops on March 4 and 5 at K-State’s Olathe campus. Aspiring and beginning-stage restaurateurs are invited to the free conference aimed at offering support for launching or scaling their food business.
Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City: If you’re in need of some sunshine and an ocean breeze, the best we can do around here is well-manufactured topical vibes of Margaritaville. The Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City is hosting its first Margarita Fest on March 7 from 2 – 6 p.m. Tickets are $75 and include 12 tasting tokens, one full-size cocktail, passed apps, live music and entertaining activations, a make-your-own margarita salt station, and more.
MUSE: One of my favorite culinary events of the year returns March 8 to the beautiful Crossroads venue, The Guild. MUSE: A Soirée Celebrating Women in Food, Drink, & the Arts honors International Women’s Month and benefits Girls on the Run Kansas City. The event features pairs of chefs, bakers, drink experts, and more–including multiple past and current James Beard Award semifinalists–who table together to offer a thoughtful food and drink pairing. Around 15 tables are spread out through the venue, with ample opportunity for conversation and connection between bites. Tickets start at $100.
