Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.

That’s where I come in.

I’ve curated this weekly list of timely events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!

Something New

News Bites: From February 12-14, Anchor Island Coffee is making your Valentine plans, or just a thoughtful surprise, incredibly convenient. For $20, they’re offering a 16 oz drink and a bouquet of flowers in a cardboard carrier.

Opening

Brew Haha Coffeehouse: A second location of Brew Haha opens February 16. The new cafe is just off Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee. It serves coffee roasted in-house, house-made syrups, tea, and gluten-free pastries every day, and has a drive-thru.

February 12

Tom’s Town: Things are sweeter than ever in the Crossroads. Tom’s Town is throwing a Love Fest from 6 – 9 p.m. and you’re invited. Tickets start at $25 and include one cocktail. Live music and a limited food menu will help set the mood for an intimate night of imbibing and shopping from ten local makers. These include Bootleg Bourbon Balls, Soul Child Awakenings, Retro Vixen, Nomad Caricatures, Red Hare Leather, KC Cigar Co., and more.

February 14

The Little Store on Knox: As if surprising your love with local coffee isn’t enough, the darling little North KC coffee shop is upping the ante. Starting at 8 a.m. they will offer a complimentary flower station. Cafe classics are always on the menu but this month’s specials embrace indulgence. I’d pick the cupid truffle, a latte with chocolate and hazelnut.

Brewer’s Corner: Let’s Eat KC & Hood Dude Food Reviews are hosting a Valentine’s Brunch at Brewer’s Corner. Tickets and meal selection must be made in advance, and will be made by Mobile Ghost Food Truck and Momma Flo’s Food Truck. The event includes bottomless mimosas, a DJ, a photobooth, raffles, and more. Tickets are $65.87 after taxes and fees.

February 15

The Westside Local: If Tiffany’s coverage of a THC-infused meal intrigued you, here’s a chance to experience it for yourself. Swade Dispensary and The Westside Local are buddying up again, this time for a Galentines-themed high tea. Tickets are $98.63 after taxes and include three infused mocktails and tea-worthy treats.

The Fix: If your love for one another would be best celebrated with plants on your plate, rather than dead animals, Smoochies supper club is for you. The Fix is putting on a special Smoochies tasting dinner featuring vibrant plant-based dishes like caramelized pear salad, miso butter cabbage, a tiramisu mille crepe cake, and more. The dinner is $85, with an optional $50 wine pairing.

Plan Ahead

Kansas City Brew Fest: On February 21, 45 breweries bringing 120 beers descend upon Union Station. Kansas City Brew Fest brings beer, music, and food from 1 – 4 p.m. Admission is $50 – $65 for beer tastings, but food is sold separately. $20 tickets for designated drivers will be available at the door. A range of local and national breweries will be represented, plus food trucks such as Wing Stand, The Taste of Potosi, Bao Wowz, and more.
