Your Kansas City dining guide.
Looking for delicious plans? Whether you want to impress a date, show your fam the best of KC, or just get out of the house, we’ve got you covered… all while supporting (mostly) local.
Here is your weekly roundup of the best food and drink offerings around Kansas City. Cheers!
Something new
Sandwich Week: Whoop whoop! Another Pitch Food Week is here! For Sandwich Week, a variety of area restaurants have a featured sandwich, wrap, or torta available for half-price through April 28. I like to recommend checking hours before visiting, and tipping well! Our staff loves to hear positive feedback from restaurants on our Pitch community!
Restless Spirits: Builders Gin, Sons of Erin Irish Whiskey, and more spirits from Restless Spirits are taking the country by storm. The Crossroads-based distillery has expanded its reach, most recently to Fenway Park, with a custom-designed Builders Gin bar behind home plate on opening day. The brand has expanded to markets beyond Kansas City, like Boston, Dallas, and Milwaukee, but it is just the beginning. Congratulations on achieving this goal, Restless Spirits team!
MargaritaCon: Astral Tequila has partnered with Kansas City establishments for a nationwide “MargaritaCon”. Order an Astral marg at Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, Social, Brick House, Streetcar Grille and Tavern, and Teocali, and each purchase through Cinco de Mayo supports Hábitat para la Humanidad México and Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis.
Opening
The Slow Bar: New to the Westside is The Slow Bar, operating out of the back of Slow Motion Goods (formerly MADI Apparel). Starting this Friday, The Slow Bar will serve serving plant-based, zero proof functional drinks during Slow Motion Goods open hours and as late as 9 p.m. on Fridays.
Land and Sea Kitchen: New to Raytown is Land and Sea Kitchen. It is open now, offering crab, shrimp, lobster, and more–complete with newspaper tablecloths for the authentic seafood boil experience.
April 25
Panther’s Place: Westside’s Panther’s Place has invited Chef Jhy Coulter of Devoured Pizza for a special feature. Tonight only, Coulter is offering a menu of focaccia, risotto bites, cheese plate, pork cheek, and more. Reservations are required for the two seating times at 6 or 8:30 p.m.
April 26
Blip Roasters: At 7 p.m., Blip Roasters in West Bottoms is hosting a variety show fundraiser for Trans Mutual Aid. Tickets are $15+ at the door, and additional food and drink from Blip will be available for purchase. Sass-a-Brass Band is among the performer list, and they are always a treat to hear!
April 27
Providence Pizza: At the Grandview location, Providence Pizza is throwing a 10-year anniversary celebration. Join in the fun and try new flavors of their New York-style pizza from 12 – 5 p.m. Along with this milestone, Providence Pizza has announced the addition of Chef Ben Wood to the leadership team.
Parkville Microbrew Fest: From 1 – 5 p.m., the 20th annual Parkville Microbrew Fest hits the picturesque English Landing Park along the Missouri River. Tickets start at $49.20 (free for designated drivers!) and include a commemorative logo tasting glass to use for unlimited beer samples plus live music.
Barley’s Kitchen + Tap: The Phantastics band is bringing the party to the Shawnee location of Barley’s from 8 – 11 p.m. This is in celebration of an exclusive tapping of a limited-release collab beer, Phantastic Punch. The exclusive keg of Vine Street Brewing’s strawberry rhubarb fruited sour beer can only be found here. Also on tap will be Dreamland Theater, Jazzman, and Hood Saison. No tickets are required, but reservations are available to secure your spot. Also, if you’ve never tried Barley’s Flourless Chocolate Torte, I suggest you do.
April 28
Garden House: The cafe and housewares shop on Southwest Blvd is welcoming Bread Friends from 10 a.m. until they sell out. Bread Friends, a local sourdough bagel pop-up, will debut two new flavors of bagels and schmear, and I’ve got high hopes for the Blueberry bagel.
KC Craft Ramen: Congrats on one year of business, KC Craft Ramen. The Overland Park spot features tonkatsu and other ramen dishes, plus curry dishes and appetizers. The neighborhood favorite has a ticketed celebration scheduled for today, but it sold out within an hour. Walk-in and carry-out will still be available.
Plan ahead
Feastival: Feastival, benefitting Harvesters Community Food Network, returns to Union Station May 3 & 4. The event features three events: a Friday night dinner from top KC chefs, a Saturday brunch sampling, and a giant volunteer event for Harvesters. The food-related events require a ticket in advance, but the bag-packing volunteer event is free.
Rieger & Co. Distillery: On May 3, the Kentucky Derby party at J. Rieger & Co. returns! This is an all-inclusive event featuring Derby-inspired bites, mint juleps, a giant screen (if you’re actually planning to watch the race and not just there for the hats and vibes), live music, and a photo booth. Tickets start at $100 with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Great Plains Adaptive Riding Academy.
