Looking for delicious plans? Whether you want to impress a date, show your fam the best of KC, or just get out of the house, we’ve got you covered… all while supporting (mostly) local.

Here is your weekly roundup of the best food and drink offerings around Kansas City. Cheers!

Something New

Lazia: The Italian-American restaurant inside Crossroads Hotel has introduced a new weekend tradition. Every Sunday from 4 – 9 p.m., guests can enjoy Sunday Supper. The family-style dining experience features four courses of thoughtful dishes from Executive Chef Aaron Cross Wells-Morgan for $59 per person. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Goat & Rabbit: We highly encourage you to play with your food, or in this case, your drink. Goat & Rabbit on West 39th Street has introduced a playful new cocktail titled Vincent Van Goat. The cocktail includes Makrut Lime Filtered Sake, Wasabi Lime Acid, PandanToasted Coconut Syrup, and a delicate wafer paper topper with a side of edible paint and miniature paint brush. A small canvas for a big imagination.

New ways to fine dine: Fox & Pearl has created a Supper Club for serving and enjoying their food at your own home, and has brought back Sunday brunch service. Corvino has introduced a Sunday jazz brunch and reservations are highly encouraged. Soon, Acre (currently only open for dinner service) will offer lunch, and Blackhole Bakery will be open an extra day during the week, on Tuesdays! I’ll let you know when those officially start.

Opening

Bisou: Bisou, a European-inspired cafe is open now in Westside. Read my full story about the lovely spot.

Meshuggah Bagels: Liberty is the lucky location of the newest Meshuggah Bagels store, and it is now open. The store is closed on Mondays. Don’t forget to ask for the bagels to be sliced if you’re eating them right away. Save yourself a step!

Station 3 Coffee: Occupying a former fire station on Midland Drive in Shawnee, Station 3 Coffee opens on March 1. It serves Hammerhand Coffee from Liberty, MO and will be open 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. every day.

Duck Donuts: In the Kansas City northland, just south of Gladstone, Duck Donuts is opening at 7 a.m. on March 2. To celebrate the grand opening, the first guest in line on opening day will receive one free dozen donuts per month for a year. The next 50 guests will receive the Sprinkling Happiness Package, two dozen donuts and a bucket of coffee, for a future visit. If you miss out on this, catch them at our Brunched event on March 9!

Closing

Ça Va: Westport’s champagne bar, Ça Va, will temporarily close after March 9 for renovations and menu updates.

March 1

Third Place Lounge: From 6 p.m. – 12 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday, Third Place Lounge near the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts is going all out featuring women-owned businesses. First, Moon Bar has created a featured cocktail using Poblano Agave Spirit from Mean Mule Distilling Co. Also, five makers will be there with their goods–including one of my favorites, Lila’s Clayground with her cute and sturdy coffee mugs and matcha bowls! No reservations or cover charge, simply stop by and enjoy. I recommend trying the Death Before Decaf (n/a espresso martini) or the Thai Me Up cocktail, and taking your turn in the swings!

March 2

Crane Brewing Company: Crane Brewing in Raytown is hosting Drag Bingo to benefit the Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. start time. Cards are $10 each. No reservation is required.

AIDS WALK Open Mini-Golf Pub-Crawl: Kicking off at 11 a.m. at your choice of participating bars, the 2024 AIDS Walk raises funds with fun for the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City. Register your team of four for $200 and enjoy mini-golf play at bars like Char Bar, Gael’s, Kelly’s, Missie B’s, Tiki Taco, Hamburger Mary’s, and many more.

Locavore: In the northland, Locavore is hosting an underground, locally-sourced, dinner party inspired by love and libido. Reservations are required for dinner at 6 p.m. The full meal is gluten-free, and plant-based options are available.

Plan Ahead

Hey! Hey! Club: On Wednesday, March 6, J. Rieger & Co’s Hey! Hey! Club is bringing back Hey Gurl! Hey! This special event brings some of the top women bartenders together to raise money for the Rose Brooks Center. Reservations are required and the fun runs from 5 p.m. 12 a.m., with DJ Ne$$ spinning at 8 p.m.

Big Rip Brewing Company: Big Rip in North KC is bringing Seattle’s famous bakery, Piroshky Piroshky, for a highly-anticipated pop-up on March 6. Preorders for the Eastern-European goodies recognized by Anthony Bourdain and the Travel Channel are due March 3. Check out the large menu of items like Beef & Cheese Piroshky, Borscht, or Cinnamon Cardamom Braid.

Just Food: To raise funds for Just Food’s mission to alleviate hunger in Lawrence and the surrounding community, Just Food has created the Fond Dinner Series. The first dinner is a collaboration with Merchant’s Pub and Plate, where Chef TK Peterson has created a four-course dinner with drink pairings honoring fond memories, the joy of cooking, and local ingredients. Dinner for two is $300 and the Fond Dinner at Merchants is March 27.
