KC Sipps: Four diverse openings, Beer Fest at The K, and a new downtown coffee drive-thru
Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.
That’s where I come in.
I’ve curated this weekly list of events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!
Something New
News Bites: The Prefix Coffee location in downtown KC now has a drive-thru! Located on McGee Street, Prefix has made it easier than ever to get a local coffee fix.
Chef Lidia Bastianich’s show, Lidia’s Kitchen, on PBS, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy! Congrats, chef and team!
The Celebrate AMERI’KANA Music & Arts Festival is coming up, on July 26, but there’s a delicious way to get involved now. New this year, the Arts as Mentorship organization, which benefits from the event, has created a passport celebrating the diverse restaurants of primarily the Historic Northeast neighborhood. Participants can pick up a passport at any of the participating restaurants, and there are prizes to be redeemed at the festival for making a purchase from at least four of the eight stops.
Opening
Something Good: A new neighborhood bar is now open in the Garment District of downtown KC. A sister bar to Son of a Gun in Columbia, this new spot features free billiards every day, a relaxed food menu, and classic cocktails. For a menu preview and more details, check out Jordan Baranowski’s pre-opening coverage of Something Good.
Rajmahal Indian Cuisine & Bar: A new Indian restaurant is currently holding a soft-opening phase in Overland Park’s Prairiefire district. With a reservation, you can be among the first to try a condensed version of the restaurant’s full menu. The interior looks bright and nice, with a menu full of color.
Selah: Selah, the tea lounge portion of Klā Sanctuary, is now open to the public. The earthy spa just opened in the West Bottoms. Selah’s menu is primarily beverages such as tea, chai, matcha, and bone broth, with organic and regenerative ingredients taking priority. Guests of Selah do not need a spa appointment to enjoy a beverage, and it is open daily from 7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Jimmy B’s Pizza & Wings: River Market has a new deep-dish style pizza spot. Located inside River Bluff Brewing, Jimmy B’s is now open. The crispy-edge square slices are one of many featured on this art print that you may have seen floating around social media.
