Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.

That’s where I come in.

I’ve curated this weekly list of events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!

Something New

News Bites: This weekend is packed with foodie-friendly festivals! Kansas City Greek Fest, Kansas City’s Reggae Music & Jerk Festival, Lenexa Spinach Festival, KC Wine Co’s Oktoberfest, and West Bottoms Beer Fest, for example. I plan to visit the Reggae Fest at Berkley Riverfront Park, as I’m most excited for Caribbean food. However, the forecast looks mild enough to make any outdoor festival enjoyable!

Things are looking pawsitive at Tom’s Town! Through the month of September, every bottle and pour of Tom’s Town Double Oaked Bourbon, Pendergast’s Royal Gold Bourbon, and Tom’s Town Straight Rye Whiskey helps support Wayside Waifs.

Oddly Correct now offers a unique canned beverage. Crispy Boi is Oddly Correct’s premixed concoction of coffee and lemonade, available on site at the KCMO coffee shop for $6 per can or $20 for a 4-pack.

Percheron Rooftop Bar atop Crossroads Hotel debuted a new look over the weekend. I saw it for myself Tuesday night while grabbing a drink with friends. The long wooden tables and few small round bistro tables are gone and have been replaced with a whole new setup of Restoration Hardware furniture. There is now more shade and much more seating. There is some new plant life and plush textures, making this spot considerably more comfortable than before. I was sad to skip the food menu that night due to time constraints, but had to indulge with one of my perpetual Percheron picks: the orange crush slushee.

Opening

Vibe: A Y2K-themed bar has opened in Overland Park. Vibe is open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. – 2 a.m., and promises immersive 1990s and 2000s beats in an atmosphere that would “make Lisa Frank jealous,” according to the website.

September 5

Café Corazón: This First Friday, the Crossroads location of Café Corazón is hosting a free event from 6 – 10 p.m. With a DJ, art, and an art show, this event also helps to raise funds for Charlotte Street. Proceeds from each Arte Spritz sold will go to the local arts organization. No tickets or admission fees are required.

Plan Ahead

Yoli Tortilleria: On September 11, Yoli Tortilleria is hosting Hank Shaw, author of the “Borderlands” cookbook that celebrates the flavors of the border region following the Rio Grande to the Pacific. Each required $50 ticket includes a copy of the cookbook and small bites from Yoli Tortilleria.
