Something New

Tom’s Town Distilling Co.: Tom’s Town in downtown KC has introduced a new seasonal pop-up experience. From March 8 through June 1, the basement has transformed into a lush oasis with flowers, garden-themed cocktails, and spring-inspired bites. The Garden Party space is open Thursdays through Saturdays starting at 5 p.m. and is only accessible via stairs. Reservations are strongly encouraged for this intimate space. 

Boulevard Brewing Company: Boulevard has debuted a new beer for International Women’s Month. Flower Power is a dry-hopped summer saison with a custom label designed by Kjella Acosta. $5 from every crowler sold in the month of March, will be donated to Pink Boots Society, a non-profit organization that supports women and non-binary people working in the fermented beverages and allied industries. A special happy hour event will be held on site this Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. where Brewer Jenna Munoz will be there to celebrate her creation.

Opening

Ramen Bowls: Ramen Bowls in Lawrence recently moved to a new location and expanded their offerings. Now open at 900 New Hampshire, Ramen Bowls offers Japanese-Hawaiian fusion ramen, cocktails, baked goods (from former Pitch Associate Editor Steph Castor!), gourmet boba tea, kakigori, and more. For an extra incentive to visit, try BINGO each Tuesday at 3 p.m. for your chance to win a $100 gift card.

SMOAK: New ghost kitchens have landed in Crossroads. SMOAK Burritos and SMOAK To-Go from SMOAK Craft Barbecue+ based in Olathe, will open on March 7 at the Crossroads Food Stop. Both barbeque-centric menus will be available for pickup or delivery on the major delivery platforms.

March 8

Una Mas Empanadas: In Shawnee, Una Mas Empanadas is popping up at Friction Beer. From 5 – 8 p.m., they’ll be serving a selection of Argentinean Empanadas like traditional beef, cheeseburger, zucchini, and more.

Voo Lounge: $1 espresso martinis. Do I need to say more? Okay, fine. From 6 p.m. – 1 a.m., Voo piano bar in downtown KC is offering one $1 espresso martini per person, live music, and two free hours of parking at the Mariott garage. Reservations are encouraged.

March 9

West Bottoms Beer Fest: Cheers! From 2 – 6 p.m. at Hy-Vee Arena, West Bottoms Beer Fest is bringing all things brew to benefit KC Urban Academy. Tickets start at $50 for an afternoon of corn hole, brews, food vendors, and live entertainment. Well over a dozen local breweries will be represented, bringing more than 100 beers!

Independence Square: The Shamrock Shuffle Bar Crawl kicks off at 2 and ends at 9 p.m. For $10, which goes to Hope House, participants can don their green, bop around Independence Square, and enjoy drink specials at spots like Big John’s Corner Bar, Cafe Verona, El Pico, and more. Live music from Pheasant Pluckers at 3 Trails Brewing Co. begins at 6 p.m.

March 10

River Bluff Brewing: In River Market, River Bluff Brewing is hosting an Oscars watch party. The event is free and no reservations are required. Don your optional glitzy outfit, enjoy specials and games, and brush up on your movie intel beforehand with our Oscars guide.

Plan Ahead

Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art: On April 5, Kemper Museum is hosting a dinner as part of their Artist Dinner Series. This one celebrates the legacy of artist Hung Liu with a special meal from Pam Liberda and her Waldo Thai team. Tickets are $300 for this part of the 30th-anniversary celebration of keeping the Kemper free and open to all.
