Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.

That’s where I come in.

I’ve curated this weekly list of events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!

Something New

News Bites: Betty Rae’s is having another “fill your Stanley” event through March 27! Bring a 40oz Stanley (or other insulated water bottle) to any location and they will cram it with four scoops of your choice for $10. In more ice cream news, High Hopes has a sweet new offering. They collaborated with neighboring Blackhole Bakery for a special cosmic brownie sundae. I’ve already got plans to snatch up this treat.

The Pitch Sandwich Week: It’s here! The easiest meal planning you’ll do all year. Pop into one of the featured restaurants for a cheaper lunch or dinner this week to enjoy a specialty sandwich at half-price! The club at Niecie’s Restaurant looks nice and light, but the torta at the Taste of Potosi food truck is Pitch staff member Jason’s favorite so far. Be sure to check the restaurant’s hours before visiting, be patient, and tip well!

Closing

Cafe Equinox: The Overland Park location of Cafe Equinox has closed for the season to make room for more plants. The cafe inside Family Tree Nursery will reopen in November. The other locations in Shawnee and Liberty remain open! These are dreamy spots to grab a latte or treat, slowing down to enjoy a moment of peace among plant life no matter the weather.

March 27

Royals Opening Day: Check out my coverage of some new stadium eats here, and if you’re not attending in person, there are a few spots for festive watch parties. SERV in OP is making the most of its giant outdoor screen and seating area, and Bar Central has free parking to lure you downtown for its watch party.

March 28

Tiki Taco: Visit any of the Tiki Taco locations, or even order online, and your purchase will help KC’s own Kanbe’s Markets! Be sure to mention Kanbe’s at checkout or use code KANBESMARKETS online. To celebrate with the Kanbe’s team or learn more about how they help our community, stop by the Troost location around 6 p.m.

March 29

Lucky Sebs: The downtown Lawrence dumpling & BBQ spot is offering a special brunch menu from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The push-cart style service features a special menu of Scotch quail eggs, okonomiyaki, congee, brisket hash, and much more.

Blip Roasters: A DJ set/dance party at a coffee shop at 10 a.m.? Yep. Why not? La Maison will be at Blip in West Bottoms for a non-traditional party, with a goal of decentering alcohol from the dance experience. Tickets are available now to save a spot, but I also suggest stopping by Blip to chance a walk-in. I recently attended a La Maison event at Kali Sound Room, and they did a good job of making me feel welcome (I was a friend’s plus one, they had no idea who I was), safe, and transforming the space to match the vibe of the event.
