KC Sipps: Award-winning cocktails for $10 all month, plus two new bars open within existing eateries
This week's Kansas City restaurant news.
Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.
That’s where I come in.
I’ve curated this weekly list of events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!
Something New
News Bites: At The Pitch, our staff is looking forward to taking a few days off to rest and eat some good food with our loved ones. But we also know that this holiday is rooted in violence and oppression of native peoples. If you are interested in using food to connect back to Indigenous folks and culture, check out this new cookbook from three-time James Beard Award-winning Oglala Lakota chef Sean Sherman. Café Corazón in Crossroads, Westport, and Brookside has a few items on the menu that feature ingredients and techniques indigenous to our continent, such as tamales and atole.
Drastic Measures, the bar in Shawnee that readers voted as Best Bar of 2025, is adding another reason to be the people’s fave. Through the month of December, all cocktails are $10 (normally $15). Instead of spending money on decor just to upcharge drinks for the sake of a pop-up theme, they’re focusing on the basics: bringing people together over a drink or two. They don’t do reservations, and the space doesn’t allow for groups over six people on the weekends, so be chill and expect a wait. I’ve always found it to be worth it.
Opening
Sunken Cork: Inside the new Arrow Dart Club in Crossroads, a wine bar with a dramatic aesthetic opens on November 28 at noon. It features wine by the ounce, glass, or bottle, and small bites for snacking. The setting itself is unique, with two levels and a large metal chandelier as a focal point.
Public House: Next to PH Coffee in Pendleton Heights, Public House opens on November 28. The new bar is a project from PH Coffee and promises the same welcoming, neighborhood feel. The theme is subtly woven around the Wizard of Oz with nods like their emerald room and dishes like Tin Man’s catch and Wizard’s spud. Public House is for ages 21+ and is open Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 – 10 p.m.
November 29
Emilie’s French Teas: For Small Business Saturday and Customer Appreciation, Emilie’s French Teas in Waldo is holding a special event from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sample new holiday teas and tisanes, enjoy small treats, and see what’s new at the cozy shop.
Nour’s: Nour’s in Westport is throwing a dinner and concert event with an Arabic theme. Bayati will be performing while guests enjoy a decadent Lebanese buffet between 6 – 10 p.m. Tickets start at $37.
Plan Ahead
Oh Hey, Agave!: All things agave descend on the Crossroads December 6 – 8. From an evening tasting party to a Jade Jaguar brunch and a day of seminars, there’s something for all levels of agave aficionados. A portion of ticket proceeds goes to Kanbe’s Markets and the Tequila Interchange Project. Put on by Rose Productions, tickets are available for individual events and range from $10-85.
