KC police chaplain gets beaten up by teen robber and pre-teen accomplices

The kids aren’t all right in Raytown. A 10 p.m. weekday curfew wasn’t good enough to save a preacher from a beat down at the hands of a teen and a couple of pre-teens.
The details in today’s Star are just amazing. The unnamed 58-year-old pastor who is also a Kansas City police chaplain was jumped, bloodied and bruised after getting jumped Wednesday around 9:30 p.m.
The story’s details are just odd.
The biggest kid locked him in a bear hug and tried to throw him down.
Didn’t work. The pastor flipped the kid, who started kicking and hitting
him. Rather than just turning over his wallet, the pastor laid on the
ground taking a beating.
“Aren’t you gonna give up?” the attacker asked.
“C’mon!”
But the pastor said he prolonged the fight in hopes
someone eventually would drive by to help him. But no one did.
The
pastor already had had a long day and said he was starting to wear
down.
“This looks like a losing battle,” he reluctantly concluded.
He
curled up on the ground using his hands to cover his head. The attacker
called to his conspirators to rifle through the pastor’s pockets.
The pastor was able to throw his cell phone so it couldn’t be stolen,
but the kids got away with his wallet, $14 and his police ID badge.
“I had marks all over my face,” the pastor told the Star after.
“I looked like
Rocky.”
Probably wouldn’t look like a mess if he’d just handed over his wallet
– like police usually advise.
We’ve been hearing about kids running amok in Raytown for a while. Fox
4 had a story about teens throwing rocks at cars and beating up a
22-year-old man back in June.
