Just noticed an e-mail from the ACLU saying that the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners voted today to reinstate domestic partner benefits. Here’s the full e-mail:

Many thanks to ACLU members and supporters plus our coalition partners

at PROMO, Four Freedoms, the Lesbian and Gay Community Center of Kansas

City.

The Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners voted to

reinstate domestic partner benefits at its meeting this morning, May

14th, 2009.
Special thanks goes to commissioners, Karl Zobrist and

Pat McInerney for their diligent efforts to uncover the true costs of

providing these benefits and for their interest in doing the right

thing for all Kansas Citians.

The commissioners received more

mail on this issue than on any other in the board’s history, because of

your response to our call for action.

Again, thank you for all your help.

Chalk one up for equality.
