Kay Barnes wants an empty arena? Not quite

This isn’t quite as it seems. Yes, The Atlantic did a story called “The Empty Arena” about the tenant-less Sprint Center. And yes, that’s former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes exclaiming, “I very much want one here.” But my “Google News Alert” is a dirty liar. Barnes’ quote appears out of context. She’s actually saying that she still wants a professional basketball or hockey team to move to Kansas City’s Sprint Center. Good story that will hopefully keep the pressure on AEG to get a team.
