Kansas Young Republican in Esquire

By Justin Kendall

Esquire’s Peter Martin hung out at the Young Republicans Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., in May and found three Alex P. Keaton-types from Kansas and Missouri. Martin discovered one of my favorite Republicans and a familiar face to the Kansas press corps: Stephanie Wing, spokeswoman for Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh.

Martin quotes Wing talking about the other party’s nominee. “I think he’s a great candidate,” Wing says of Barack Obama. “We don’t agree on a lot, but he’s gotten young people interested in politics.”

I called Wing to ask the 27-year-old from KCK if she was catching flack for praising Obama.
